*METTA FOREST MONASTERY KATHINA CEREMONY: Oct. 19, 2008. The Steward Committee
cordially invites you to participate in the annual ceremony. This will be an
opportunity for you to visit the monastery, to view the improvements made
possible by the kindness of your generosity & enjoy the fellowship of the
merit-making activities of the day. Donations from this years Kathina will go
towards building a permanent dining hall, kitchen & guest house complex, as well
as more monk huts. Alms round is 9am followed by the offering of food to the
monks, taking the Triple Refuge & Morning Chanting. The lay participants then
have their potluck meal. At noon everyone gathers at the meditation hall, where
the donors present the monks with the kathina cloth & other offerings. The monks
conduct a formalized discussion to decide who among them receives the cloth,
after which they chant blessings for the gathering of donors. This concludes the
