Becoming Fully Human: Creating a Mandala Gift of Compassion

In order to understand loving kindness and compassion in a practical way, we will examine 2 short Buddhist texts and learn visualization and mantra to deepen our meditation practices. To extend and complement that meditation practice, students will create two mandalas (sacred circle art). One mandala will be a personal devotional mandala, a second mandala will be created as a devotional gift. Students are encouraged to bring small beads, wooden shapes, light weight metal forms, and old costume jewelry to share. Students will get the most out of this class if they have attended the basic meditation series or have some understanding of Buddhist meditation practices. Bring a snack.
